ANN SHARES HER BROTHER KARL'S SUCCESS STORY
Ann Fogarty said she was honored to be a speaker at CANB’s annual event. She shared stories about her brother Karl Schmidt, who went through the program.
“I was thrilled to be able to express my appreciation for Kari and her team,” Ann explained. “I don’t think Karl would be where he is today without CANB.”
Kari heard about Karl from Ann’s Facebook posts. He had lived on Sacramento’s rough streets for more than a decade until he was severely injured and hospitalized for several months. During that time, doctors convinced him to try a medication to ease his mental illness issues. It was such a success that he wanted to change his life.
“After following Karl’s story on her posts, I reached out to Ann and suggested that he try our program. And he became one of our successes. We love to share stories about his journey with us.” Kari explained.
Through the program, Karl learned about getting away from the temptation of drugs and thrived in a CANB home. After getting encouragement and support, Karl now enjoys his life at the California Veteran’s Home in Yountville. He credits Kari and her staff for getting him the help and direction he needed.
“I am grateful beyond words,” Ann said. “After decades of our worrying about his health and safety, he and I can now talk often about the contentment he feels now. It is a blessing I never thought we would receive.”
